Dear Editor,
So a US coal-company in Australia has been misreporting its emissions (Report by Adam Morton, The Guardian, 30th Jan 2022, link below)? Somehow that doesn't surprise me.
But what about the big-daddy of all misreporting? What about the emissions produced in far-off countries to manufacture "this and that" (often simply tat) for us to use just a few times and then throw away?
This point is mentioned sometimes but normally we prefer to smugly wag our finger at those distant polluters and then happily pat ourselves on the back for "us" reducing "our" emissions. All this, when really their CO2 (and all kinds of other pollution) is being created for our benefit.
That blows my mind.
PS: But nevertheless, compliments to Adam for an important article!
Regards
