So Bill Gates is worried about pandemics spread by antibiotic-resistant bugs and believes that we need "new tools" to fight this threat.
The question I ask myself is why people propose developing new drugs when we are irresponsibly abusing those that we already have by routinely feeding them to intensively reared animals? It's like complaining that you need a new bucket when you are busy punching holes in your old bucket.
But of course common sense and simply "doing the right thing" is far less "sexy" (and less profitable) than spending billions on swanky new "tools".
